Atranos Fantasy Hotel opened in late 2019. The hotel is designed around a courtyard garden with heated swimming pool shaped like Axum’s famous obelisk. The garden has a raised veranda, shaded tables, potted trees and sunbeds.

The hotel has 83 en-suite rooms made up of doubles, twins and suites. The double and twin rooms have full length mirrors, dimmed lights, dressing gowns, TV, fridge, safe, extra duvet, clothes brush, iron, telephone, hairdryer and information folder. The 5 suites have double bedrooms, and living rooms with sofa, arm chairs, coffee table, massage chair and large screen TV. Their bathrooms have steam shower and Jacuzzi with TV.

Sapphire Restaurant offers dishes from around the world including cauliflower cappuccino, Mediterranean aubergine tomato confit and shrimp tagliatelle. From the Grill includes fillet mignon, Atlantic wild salmon, Treasures of the Sea and Thai fish curry. There’s also a selection of Ethiopian dishes, pizzas and pasta and signature dessert Atranos puff. Axumite bar is centred on a model of Axum’s obelisk; statues of the Queen of Sheba and King Solomon stand at the foot of the round staircase. The pool bar serves wines, beers and snacks. The two conference rooms seat 400 and 800 pax. There’s also a gym, sauna, steam room.
