Owned by Lalibela’s most famous restaurant, Ben Abeba, Lalibela Apartments opened in 2019. High on a hillside looking across Lalibela’s spectacular valleys at the Degosach Mountains, the apartments are built by local masons and carpenters with touches of traditional style.

The house has 2 bedrooms and sleeps up to 5 pax, a spacious living room and a veranda with a view; this would suite a family or group of friends. The top twin apartment has 1 room with twin beds and sleeps 2 pax. The top terrace apartment has 1 room with king and single and sleeps 3 pax. The ground floor apartment has 1 room with king and single, and a patio with a view.

Ben Abeba Restaurant serves an inventive fusion of Scottish and Ethiopian cuisine. Raised high on the escarpment, the restaurant is an architectural delight and has 360°views. The apartments are close to Lalibela’s famed rock-hewn churches, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Lalibela is the jewel in the crown of Ethiopia, the site of the most famous churches and the scene of many major religious ceremonies. The churches, carved below ground level, have been active for 900 years, and there are over 600 priests and deacons.
