Established in 2017, Zagwe Hotel offers comfortable accommodation near the churches and sites of Lalibela.

There are 20 en-suite rooms, made up of 8 doubles and 12 twins. The rooms are adorned with arts and crafts made by local artisans. All rooms have satellite TV, mini-bar, digital safe and hair dryer, and have balconies overlooking the mountains. The restaurant serves predominantly Ethiopian cuisine with some dishes from around the world; the bar has local and imported beers, wines and spirits. The garden makes a pleasant place to relax, while the roof top terrace offers panoramic views of the surrounding countryside.

Lalibela is the jewel in the crown of Ethiopia, the site of the most famous churches and the scene of many major religious ceremonies. The churches have been active for 900 years, and there are over 600 priests and deacons. The churches, arguably Ethiopian’s top attraction, are carved below ground level and ringed by trenches and courtyards, and are connected to each other by a tangled maze of tunnels and passages.
