Planet Hotel is situated in Mekele, gateway to the region of Tigrey and its extraordinary churches carved from rocks.

There are 120 en-suite rooms, made up of standard, twin, queen, king, suite bedroom, and executive suite. All rooms have satellite TV, intercom telephone, minibar, wired internet, Wifi, safe, hairdryer, toiletries, kettle, tea and coffee, aircon, low lighting and a useful directory of facilities in the hotel and around the region including distances between tourist sites. The king and suite bedroom are more spacious and include armchairs, coffee table and Jacuzzi, and the executive suite sleeps 4, with a double and a twin.

The restaurant has a large international menu including sesame coated beef salad, spicy chicken and bean soup, lemon pepper fish, spinach stuffed chicken, mini lamb koftas, white forest gateau and crepes suzette. There are plenty of Ethiopian options, and juices, cocktails and wines. The ground floor bar is well stocked; Sheba Lounge, on the 10^th floor, has a lovely view, Wifi, drinks and snacks.

The conference centre’s 3 halls that can accommodate from 20 to 800 pax, and have sound system, LCD projector, cordless microphones and teleconferencing facilities. The heated swimming pool has a bar and snack bar. The gym has an onsite trainer offers aerobics classes. The spa offers sauna, steam and Swedish massage. The hotel treats its own water, and has 2 standby generators in case of power cuts.
