Yogi | Jessi Wolz

Jessi is a Nairobi-based yoga teacher devoted to the practice of yoga on and off the mat, and to sharing the healing power of the practice with others. After dabbling in the physical aspect of yoga for five years, her yoga journey began in earnest in 2014 during a period of intense transformation. Initially drawn to that post-savasana lightness of being, she started digging into the philosophy, neuroscience, and physiology of yoga and discovered a systematic path to deeper inner contentment and peace.

In Jessi’s classes, you will be taken on a journey to greater connection with yourself. Expect a challenging, breath-based physical practice that slowly builds in intensity then slides you sweetly into rest. She offers modifications for all levels, loves to teach beginners, and strives to be attentive to the needs of every student. Her teaching style is Vinyasa, inspired by the Ashtanga tradition of yoga with elements of Yin.

She completed her 200-hour yoga teacher training in the Ashtanga tradition with Lalit Kumar in India, and later trained in trauma-informed yoga with Hala Khouri in California. She has continued to deepen her practice under the guidance of international Ashtanga teachers Stefan Engstrom, Isabella Nitschke, and Prem and Radha in Bali. She leads a yoga for trauma programme for young female survivors of gender-based violence in Kibera, and teaches yoga classes to female refugees at a shelter in Nairobi.
