About Zobel Resort, Gondar

Zobel, Emperor Fasilidas’ favourite horse, has given his name to this resort. Designed by an experimental architect, the resort stands in circles with the rooms in the outer ring, ensuring that every room has a striking view. The resort was established in 2018.

The 73 en-suite rooms are made up of 19 singles, 22 king size doubles, 22 twins and 10 suites. All rooms have wooden floors, and gold and cream décor. All rooms have telephone, safe, minibar, kettle, weighing scales, TV, hairdryer and balcony with great view. The 10 suites are housed in 5 cottages; they are more spacious, have seating areas, and their bathrooms have Jacuzzis.

The restaurant has a wide menu including chicken with seasonal fruit, peanut breaded tilapia, beef mignon, chicken curry, a selection of pizzas and pastas. The traditional restaurant has Ethiopian dishes, and live performances of singing and dancing. The bar has a full menu of local and imported drinks. The conference centre has 2 conference rooms with a capacity of 200 pax, 2 VIP meeting rooms and a business centre. Both restaurants, reception, public bathrooms and the suites have disabled access. Activities include visiting the castles of Gondar, known as the Camelot of Africa.
