About Skylight Hotel, Addis Ababa
With a large model of an Ethiopian Airlines plane outside, and a ticket office on site, it’s clear this hotel is owned by Ethiopian Airlines. The 8-floor hotel opened in 2019 and looks out onto Bole International Airport.
The 373 en-suite rooms, decorated in cream and white, are made up of doubles, twins, grand suite, superior suite, corner suite, executive suite and presidential suite. All rooms have satellite TV, minibar, Wifi, aircon, safe, iron, ironing board, tea and coffee, 2 phones, balcony and – just in case – gas masks. Their bathrooms are divided from the bedrooms by floor-to-ceiling glass; blinds can be drawn for privacy. The suites are spacious and elegant.
The large light lobby has a baby grand piano raised on a pedestal. The Grand Kitchen offers a daily buffet and an a la carte menu with dishes such as beef carpaccio, Salad Caprese, Angus beef medallion, fish and chips, and mac and cheese. Other dining options include the huge Taichi Chinese restaurant, Ethiopian restaurant, coffee bar, Blues Jazz Bar and executive lounge for those staying in a suite. The conference centre has a business centre, meeting room and grand ballroom. The hotel also has a fitness centre, spa, swimming pool, mini golf course, art gallery and concierge service.
