On the shores of the crater lake, Kuriftu Resort is the showpiece of Kuriftu Resorts. Bishoftu, also known as Debre Zeit, is only 50km from Addis, and is a resort town popular with Addis residents, known for its five crater lakes.

The 89 en-suite rooms include 4 presidential suites. All rooms have private verandas with views of the lake. The two restaurants serve Ethiopian food and a selection of international dishes. Wines are supplied by the resort’s partner, Castel Winery. The resort also has a swimming pool with a sunbathing terrace that overlooks the lake, a spa and wellness centre that offers a menu of treatments, four conference halls, a hair salon and a cinema. Activities on site include kayaking, table tennis, billiards, volleyball and fishing in the lake.

Local attractions include the hot baths and natural springs in Sodore, and nearby parks with wildlife and birds. Activities include boat trips and bird watching. Weddings and parties can be arranged.
