This striking building on the outskirts of Adama blends French influence, Moroccan style, and Ethiopian setting with aplomb. Known familiarly as The White House, the boutique hotel has a unique architectural style that harks back to the days of the spice routes. Adama, also known as Nasret, is less than 100km from Addis and is a popular weekend getaway for residents of the city.

The 30 spacious en-suite rooms are made up of classic, delux, executive, junior suites and prestige suites. Elegantly furnished with four-poster beds, Moroccan tables and chairs, Arabic lanterns, Turkish kilms and Arabic carpets, all rooms are equipped with fridge, intercom telephone, kettle and a selection of teas and coffees. They’re adorned with ornate wooden chests, large wooden doors, lattice shutters and Arabic ornaments.

The 3 restaurants serve a French menu, including grilled trout, duck comfit, coq au vin, chicken cotellet, lamb marek and crepes with citron-miel. The swimming pool has a view over the rolling hills and farmland, and a poolside bar. The four meeting rooms can accommodate between 10 and 200 pax. The spa has a menu of treatments including massage and Turkish bath.

Local attractions include the local churches around Adama, the hot baths and natural springs in Sodore, and nearby parks with wildlife and birds. Activities include horse riding, mountain biking and bird watching. Weddings and parties can be arranged.
