They were built with as little impression as possible on the environment, using low-impact construction methods, and working with local artisans. The lodge offers massage and yoga sessions; champagne and lunches can be arranged. The lodge was constructed by the local Limalimo community, purchases food from the local farmers, and works with local communities in support of conservation and sustainability.

The most popular thing to do in the Simien Mountains is trekking. The walks here are spectacular and the views extraordinary. Highlights include the waterfall, referred to both as Simien Waterfall and Jimber Waterfall, Imetgogo peak (3,926m), Enateye peak (4,070m), and more. Other activities include bird watching, visiting local villages, and entering into local daily experiences such as traditional cooking, beer making, farming, and visiting local markets. The lodge also offers early morning yoga sessions, and relaxing massages.
