About Haile Resort, Ziway

Haile Gebrselassie is arguably the best runner Ethiopia has ever produced – and that’s quite a feat! With two Olympic gold medals, four World Championship titles and too many marathon wins to count, Haile has broken national and international records time and time again. Now President of Ethiopian Athletics, the champion is focusing on promoting his country through his collection of luxury resorts.

Haile Resort, Ziway, is set in manicured gardens on the shores of Lake Ziway. The 52 en-suite rooms, comprising standard, delux, family and suite, are equipped with TV, minibar, intercom telephone and toiletries. The restaurant and terrace, overlooking the lake, serve a selection of Ethiopian cuisine, fish from the lake, and soups, salads, pastas and pizzas.

The boardrooms and ballrooms accommodate from 30 to 300 pax. The gym is fully equipped and offers aerobics and yoga classes; the spa has a menu of treatments. Also on site is a swimming pool, basketball, football, table tennis and children’s playground. The resort also has Wifi, ATMs, traditional coffee ceremony, gift shop and a vegetable garden from which the restaurant sources fresh greens.

Activities include trips to Abijatta National Park, bird watching for endemic species, and boat trips on the lake to visit the island monasteries where the arc of the covenant, historical bibles and other national heritages are kept.
