Panoramic View Hotel has, as its name suggests, a panoramic view of the valleys and mountains around Lalibela.

The 35 en-suite rooms have double or twin beds, and are adorned with locally crafted furniture. Their balconies overlook the sweeping valley. The rooms are equipped with Wifi, hair drier and plug adapters. The restaurant serves Ethiopian cuisine and some international dishes, and the menu changes according to the fresh produce available each season. The bar is stocked with local and imported beers, wines and spirits. Ethiopian cooking lessons can be arranged with the kitchen staff.

Weddings, birthdays and other events can be organised. The rooftop terrace has a bonfire every evening, and serves coffee, tej honey wine and other drinks. The hotel’s Ipads and laptops are available for the use of guests, and there’s a satellite TV in the bar. The gift shop sells cultural and historical Ethiopian souvenirs and crafts. Tours and vehicle hire can be arranged.

Lalibela is the jewel in the crown of Ethiopia, the site of the most famous churches and the scene of many major religious ceremonies. The churches, carved below ground level, have been active for 900 years, and there are over 600 priests and deacons.
